Born in England in 1882, Sherman studied there prior to his arrival in Australia in the 1920s. Principally a floral painter, he is well known for his large traditional oil paintings of vases of hydrangeas and zinnias. He was a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales and his works are represented in several major collections.
