Benjamin Edwin Minns

Born: 1864 NSW
Died: 1937

Born in Sydney in 1864, Minns studied under L Henry, A.J. Daplyn and Julian Ashton. He was a member of the Society of Artists of Sydney and the president of the Australian Watercolour institute.He specialised in works in watercolour and pen and ink. He became well known for his sketches of aborigines.

His work has been published by the Sydney Mail, and the Bulletin Magazine. The latter he spent over 40 years working for. In 1938 he won the Sesqui-centennial prize for historical painting.
