Ernest Griset

Enerst Griset (b 1843 France- d 1907 UK)

Griset was a London based book illustrator who has been described as  “an admirable and apparently inexhaustible draughtsman who possesses much satirical power and produced countless drawings of animals and human savages”.

He created a body of work based solely on subjects of the ‘zoo’ many of which are now archived in the Victoria Albert Museum in London. He was also a regular contributor to ‘Punch Magazine’ and ‘Fun magazine’ both based in London.
